Instead of my regular monthly 20 Bookstagrammers to Follow post, I’m switching it up a little for May because something rather exciting has been happening on Instagram these past few weeks!
A little while back Erica of @libretto_reviews contacted a few fellow bookstagrammers with a problem: she wanted to find and connect with more Aussie readers, but wasn’t sure how. Readers in many countries, such as Germany and the Philipines, have established strong local bookstagram communities, and Aussie YA readers and authors have rallied around the #LoveOzYA tag, but our nation’s bookworms as a whole are still somewhat scattered.
Erica wanted to create a space where we could gather and share our reading experiences. With the help of Danielle (@halfdesertedstreets), Elle (@ellebiblio), Tamsien (@babblingbooks), Michaela (@crazybooklady_), Kate (@lillytales), Annie (@thebookcube), Alex (@epicbookclub) and yours truly (@project_lectito), she created and launched #AussieReaders.
The idea behind the tag is simple:
Goal: To bring together Aussies who love to read. How to get involved: If you live in Australia, are an Aussie abroad, or are just visiting, TAG any of your photos with #aussiereaders Do the books need to be Australian? Nope! Any books are fine, any genre/format too! BONUS: Each month the hosts of #aussiereaders will feature their favourite photos!
Since its launch on 17 April, Aussie readers have posted hundreds of pics under the tag, and it’s proving a wonderful way to say g’day to fellow bookworms down under and swap stories about our reading. So to celebrate, I thought share 20 fave accounts I’ve found posting under #AussieReaders.
