Hullo book lovers!
It’s been a while—three weeks to be precise—since Lectito went dark. For my regular readers (hi, Mum!) who wondered what happened, here’s the scoop:
Work took me to my home city, Adelaide, for three weeks. I had high hopes for the trip. I was totally going to manage work, catching up with friends, doing final edits on Novel A before sending the manuscript into a competition, smashing out another 20,000 words on the first draft of Novel B, making inroads on my TBR pile, writing regular reviews and other bits and pieces for Lectito and dogsitting for my parents.
Spoiler alert: I did not manage all these things, though the dog is fine. Here we are:
Between work, writing and selfies with the dog, there wasn’t a whole lot of time for reading, let alone reviewing. I’d just started Lauren Groff’s Fates and Furies. It’s fabulous. The plot sprawls and writing glitters. I wasn’t about to rush through it in order to dash out a half-baked review. In fact, when it comes to content, I think it’s better to keep quiet until you have something to say rather than post filler.
Now, after three weeks’ silence, I’m super excited to get back to talking books! And I’ve got truckloads of exciting stuff planned for the week ahead, including a review of the aforementioned Fates and Furies and an interview with Lori Hettler, founder of The Next Best Book Blog and The Next Best Book Club, one of the most active books clubs on Goodreads. Stick around, folks.
